World’s ‘most-wanted’ Hacker Dies At 59

Kevin Mitnick died on Sunday at an age of 59. News was confirmed by his cybersecurity training company. Kevin Mitnick, who was once one of the world’s most wanted computer hackers was struggling with  pancreatic cancer for more than a year. He was considered as one of the most scariest hacker due to his works. He was jailed in 1988 for stealing a software for 1 year. He was responsible for the theft of thousands of data  and credit card numbers in early late 90s. He landed himself at the top of the FBI’s Most Wanted list. Mitnick was finally arrested by the FBI on February 15, 1995.  Mitnick spent five years in prison.

Mitnick was released on January 21, 2000. He was released on restrictive clause as he was prohibited from using a computer or cell phone other. He was only allowed to use a landline telephone with the permission of his probation officer for the three years following his release.

After being released, Mitnick  started a new career as a White Hat hacker and security consultant. He also published books and started to give keynotes and talks. Mitnick is survived by his wife, Kimberley Mitnick who is pregnant with their first child.
