Ubuntu 23.04 “Lunar Lobster” is released on thursday, april 20, 2023. It is not a Long-Term Support version. That means you can try this but you may opt out for the stable version like Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Ubuntu 23.04 will be supported for 9 months until January 2024. If you are a Ubuntu 22.04 LTS user then you cannot upgrade from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to Ubuntu 23.04 directly. First, you must first upgrade your Ubuntu to Ubuntu 22.10 from Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, and then upgrade 22.10 to 23.04.

Run the following command to ensure that your software is up to date by running:
sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade
You might ask for the password. Enter your password and press Y when prompted.
Launch the software updater
Now, you need to launch the software updater from the application menu. This will check for updates and prompt you to upgrade if it finds a more recent Ubuntu release. If you see the notification of the new Ubuntu release then you can click on the Upgrade option. Follow the onscreen instruction and wait for a while.
You might be asked to remove obsolete packages from the previous Ubuntu release or you can also keep them. Click Restart Now to complete the upgrade
