How To Upgrade To Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic Minotaur”

Most important thing that you need to consider is that Once you upgrade, you cannot go back to the previous version.

Upgrade from 23.04 to 23.10

Go through the following steps to upgrade to Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic Minotaur”.

1. Run the update-manager application.
2. In Update Manager, click the Settings button, and enter your Ubuntu password to start the Software Sources application.
3. Select the sub menu Updates from the Software Sources application.
4. In this step you need to confirm the “Notify me of a new Ubuntu version:” option is set to “For any new version”, and change it if otherwise.
5. Now you need to close the Software Sources application and return to Update Manager.
6. Back in Update Manager, click the Check button to check for new available updates.
7. If there are any updates to install, use the Install Updates button to install them.
8. Open Terminal and run update-manager -d.
9. A message will appear informing you of the availability of the new release.
10. Now you need to click upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.

How To Upgrade Ubuntu Servers To Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic Minotaur”

Make sure you have ubuntu-release-upgrader-core installed, if there is not ubuntu-release-upgrader-core installed in your Ubuntu server then run the following command to install it.

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-release-upgrader-core

Now, edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set Prompt=normal

Now you need to launch the upgrade tool and follow the onscreen instructions.

do-release-upgrade -d
